High Quality and Cost Effective Calling While Flying

Passengers and crew using Cobham AVIATOR terminals can now benefit from up to nine simultaneous voice lines on a single terminal

AVIATOR Wireless HandsetLYNGBY, Denmark - Cobham SATCOM has announced a new multiple voice line capability across its entire AVIATOR SwiftBroadband range after Inmarsat made its new Multi-Voice service live. All existing AVIATOR terminals will now support Multi-Voice with a simple upgrade, plus the service will be available on Cobham's next generation product family, AVIATOR S.

The Inmarsat Multi-Voice service for SwiftBroadband will support up to nine simultaneous voice lines on a single AVIATOR SwiftBroadband terminal, enabling more users to benefit from high quality and cost effective calling during the flight.

The new Multi-Voice service is compatible with Cobham's AVIATOR Wireless Handset, which features best-in-class noise and echo cancellation capabilities to ensure excellent voice calling clarity. Passengers and crew can also use their own Wi-Fi enabled smartphones to access SwiftBroadband voice calling on AVIATOR.

With Inmarsat's Multi-Voice, each handset can benefit from having its own number and it is also possible to dial out from any handset in the aircraft.

"The availability of Inmarsat Multi-Voice provides all existing AVIATOR users with a great opportunity to take advantage of an easy upgrade to the new service, plus the Multi-Voice capability will be available on all new system installations," said Kim Gram, Vice President, Aeronautical Business Unit, Cobham SATCOM. "The new service will provide many benefits to our customers, particularly business travellers, enabling them to have up to nine telephone lines open in the cabin with enhanced call quality and lower calling costs."

The full Cobham SATCOM AVIATOR range includes the revolutionary AVIATOR S series, which are smaller, lighter and more cost effective than current satellite communication systems, providing the combination of IP and ACARS data and designed specifically to leverage Inmarsat's new SwiftBroadband Safety service. AVIATOR S adds to the current AVIATOR 700 and 700D, AVIATOR 350 with High Gain Antenna (HGA), AVIATOR 300 with IGA as well as the exceptionally compact and lightweight AVIATOR 200 with Low Gain Antenna (LGA).
